Square tablecloths have been in use for centuries. These are used with the sole intention of protecting the table from any kind of stain or damages. However, with changing times, they are being used to add aesthetic appeal to the table besides protection. While traditional fabrics were used previously, now various different materials are being used to create square table cloths. In the past, tablecloths were hand crafted either by sewing or weaving throughout the world. They were made is such a way as to be functional as well as decorative.
When you are working with a smaller table, you do not have a lot of room for embellishments or decorative statements like centerpieces. Instead, let your tablecloth do all the work-and give it some reinforcements. A simple way to spruce up a small square or circular table is with layered tablecloths. Squares work the best, as you can layer them at alternating angles. Start with a solid color square tablecloth and drape it over the table-you can put it down straight or askew, it does not matter. Then, place a smaller, contrasting (but complementary) square tablecloth over top of it at a skewed angle. This second tablecloth can be solid-color or patterned, as long as you can see both. This layered design adds just a little visual flair and excitement to what would have otherwise been a boring, unimpressive little table.
Measurements are particularly important, and all of our tablecloths are labelled with dimensions. Check the product information section on your item to make sure it is the right size for you. We fully recommend measuring your table prior to purchase. You also need to think about the drop that you are hoping to achieve. A longer drop (in that the tablecloth almost comes to the floor) is often reserved for a more formal event, although a shorter drop is considered to offer a more relaxed atmosphere. You should also think about the colour that would match your location or event, perhaps a simple, elegant affair for a wedding or dinner party or a colourful number to brighten up your kitchen.
There are two ways to lay a runner on a square table. You can do a single runner, laid straight across the middle of the table, with one person sitting at either end of the runner, and the other guests filling in the spaces in between. The second approach is to have two table runners set out in an X pattern through the center of the table, with one person sitting at either point on the X.
